STATE SUPPORT OF INNOVATION PROJECTS AS AN ELEMENT OF NATIONAL SECURITY OF RUSSIA

Background. Nowadays, innovations are a decisive factor in technological, economic and social development of a business entity. It is a well-known fact that technological modernisation of domestic production is highly important for Russia. It should increase competitiveness of Russian goods and ensure food security of the country. Bridging the technological gap in the sphere of innovations is impossible without increasing investments, including a significant financial support from the state. The aim of this work is to analyze forms, to estimate volumes and to highlight main directions of state support of innovation activities. The relevance of this direction is undeniable.
Materials and methods. The research tasks were implemented by analyzing main forms of state support of innovations in accordance with the strategy "Innovative Russia – 2020".
Results. Having studied the activities of the Russian venture company, Innovation center "SKOLKOVO", State Corporation RUSNANO OJSC, Vnesheconombank, State Corporation "Rosatom", as well as information from the Report of the Government of the Russian Federation on the activities of the Commission for modernisation and technological development of Russia's economy in 2015-2016 the authors described the specificity and peculiarities of the state support of innovations in Russia.
Conclusions. The article presents the main directions and mechanisms of state support to the innovation sector in order to ensure national security. The authors emphasize the importance and necessity of development of innovations for Russia to achieve a qualitatively new level of economic development.
